Nowadays women too have been working for longer hours and sometimes even in places where they do not have access to clean toilets. To avoid using the toilets women then lessen the intake of water, unaware of the harm this causes to the body. These working conditions can lead to many issues like kidney stones 1 due to less water intake, Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) 2 and others.
Kidney Stones : Kidney stones are hard collections of salt and minerals often made up of calcium or uric acid. They form inside the kidney and can travel to other parts of the urinary tract. A kidney stone forms when too much of certain minerals from your body accumulate in your urine. When you do not drink enough water or liquids, the urine become more concentrated which leads to formation of kidney stones. They are typically very painful and may need medical intervention to be treated.
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) : UTI are caused by harmful bacteria affecting the urinary tract. This infection can affect the kidneys, bladder and the tubes between them. Women have a lifetime risk of over 50% of developing a UTI. Some women may even experience recurrent UTIs.
UTI is dangerous, especially in cases of pregnant women. Recurrent UTI and kidney infections could be life threatening. If pregnant it could result in the child being born prematurely.
